I'm reading the All New Square Foot Gardening book that Paula lent me. They talk about using 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 compost and 1/3 peat moss. Is this the kind of soil that we want to use in our garden? Does anyone have any good places that we can get these ingredients, if that is the way that we want to go? Please comment.
I need to talk to Kevin Gaskill about getting these soil ingredients. I didn't get to follow up with him this past Sunday. I was thinking if we don't want to have the cost of all of these ingredients for the soil, perhaps we could do one bed with Mel's mix (as described above), and the other two beds could be different mixes, as well. Since this year is an experiment, we could use different soil mixes and see how different plants react to the different soils and the weather conditions that we encounter during this growing season. What do you all think?
ReplyDeleteSuellen, what do we need to do to get the leaves from city of Zanesville? Some sort of paperwork? Will they load it onto our trailer for us?
